Curt Mueller is entering his first year as the Head Football Coach for the Lafayette Lancers. In addition to football, Coach Mueller teaches Physical Education, Health, and Driver's Education at Lafayette High School. Prior to Lafayette, Coach Mueller spent five years as an offensive line coach and social studies teacher at Kirkwood High School. Prior to that, he was the linebackers coach at Savannah High School in Savannah, Missouri. In addition to Savannah, Coach Mueller spent time coaching at Edwardsville High School. Coach Mueller graduated from Edwardsville High School in Illinois, where he was part of the 2013 state semifinalist team. He continued his football career by earning a scholarship to play at Northwest Missouri State University, where he was a part of two Division II National Championship teams and a 38-game win streak, which is second in Division II history. As he finished his education at Northwest Missouri, he transitioned to an offensive assistant coach in his last year.
Adam Hicks is entering his 18th year of coaching the Lafayette football program. Adam has coached on the freshman, JV, and Varsity levels during his time at Lafayette. Adam is a graduate of Eureka High School. Adam Earned his B.S. in Education from McKendree University. While at McKendree Adam was a member of the Football and Wrestling teams. Adam earned his M.S from SBU. He is a Physical Education Teacher at Lafayette High School. Adam is also a Varsity assistant coach on the Wrestling team at Lafayette. Adam and his wife Sarah live in Eureka with their sons Emmett, Waylon and Colter.
Rick Voss is entering his 35th year of coaching in the Rockwood School District. Rick coached football for 3 years at Crestview Junior High as a freshman assistant, and 32 years at LHS as a junior varsity and varsity assistant. He has served as both offensive and defensive coordinator for the varsity Lancers. This season Rick will be a varsity assistant coach. Rick is a 1986 graduate of Washington High School. Rick earned his B.S. in Education from Northeast Missouri State University, where he met his wife, Susan. While at NMSU, Rick was a member of the 1988 MIAA Conference Championship Football team. Rick earned his M.S from SBU. He is a Retired Physical Education Teacher. Rick is also an assistant track and field coach at Lafayette. Rick and Susan have two daughters, Jordyn and Alexandra, and three grandchildren, August, Margo, and Violet.
Steve Polster is beginning his 21st season coaching at Lafayette. He currently holds the position of special teams coach for the varsity team and serves as the offensive coordinator for the junior varsity team. Additionally, Steve is active in the Jr. Lancer Football program. He earned his degree in elementary education from SEMO and teaches sixth grade at Crestview Middle School. Stephen resides in Wildwood with his wife Laura, a graduate of LHS, and their 11-year-old twins, Austin and Kennedy. Austin is a member of the sixth-grade football team, while Kennedy cheers for the squad.
John Pope is a graduate of St. Joseph Central High School. He was a three sport athlete, lettering in football, wrestling, and track. After high school, he joined the United States Army, where he spent seven years as an Army Special Forces Weapons Sergeant. He lives in Wildwood with his wife, Cassie, and four-year old son, Walker. Coach Pope works with the linebackers and wide receivers, and serves as the JV Defensive Coordinator. This is his 8th season coaching football at Lafayette. He also coaches boys and girls Pole Vault for Lafayette and teaches 7th grade Language Arts at Crestview Middle School.
Wade Pinkston was born in Cleveland, Ohio and grew up in the surrounding area. He was a three sport athlete through all of middle school and high school as well as playing football in college. He earned degrees from both Cumberland College, KY and The Ohio State University. During this time he married Samantha Thomas and raised his oldest daughter Alexandria. Following his time at OSU he moved to California where he started his coaching career in the sports of track, wrestling, and football, as well as having his youngest son Victor. In 2015 he moved to Missouri where he now coaches wrestling and football at Lafayette High School.
Arvie Kilongkilong is entering his 9th season with the Lafayette Lancers. Coach Kilongkilong was a three sport athlete in high school while being named as an All-State Defensive Back during the 2006-07 campaign for McAuley Catholic High School in Joplin, MO. He is a two sport coach at Lafayette High School being the varsity Defensive Coordinator for football as well as an assistant varsity basketball coach. Coach Kilongkilong graduated from Missouri State University with a degree in Physical Education while double minoring in Religious Studies and Coaching. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Curriculum and Instruction.
Matt Waeckerle is a 2015 graduate of Lafayette High School where he played football and lacrosse. He attended the University of Saint Mary earning his B.A. in history and secondary education. While attending Saint Mary he was a part of the men’s lacrosse team. Matt earned his masters in American history at Gettysburg in 2023 and plans to add another 30 credit hours in the subject by 2027. Matt is entering his seventh year of teaching and coaching football. On top of his football and teaching duties, Matt also coaches freshman wrestling, and co-sponsors the Fellowship of Christian Athletes club at Lafayette. Matt lives in O’Fallon with his wife Marissa who is also a 2015 LHS grad.
Pernell Garner was born and raised in Saint Louis, Missouri. A class of 2021 Lafayette graduate, Pernell was a 3-year varsity letterman in football & track and field. After high school, Pernell continued his academic and athletic career at Southeast Missouri State where he played football for one year. He currently works as a substitute history teacher in the Hazelwood School District, while also attending college to finish his degree in secondary education with an emphasis in history. He has worked with several local football/performance facilities in the area along with other football programs. He made the transition back to high school football by returning to Lafayette for his first year as a coach. This is is second year on staff. He is excited to work with the players and be able to contribute by sharing his knowledge and experience with the program.
Brett Fischer is a 2000 graduate of Lafayette High School where he played football and baseball. He attended the University of Missouri-Rolla where he played football and earned a B.S. in Engineering Management and a B.S. in Finance. He is entering his sixth year with Lafayette Football, specializing in offense and wide receivers. Brett lives in Ellisville with his wife, Natasha Fischer who is a grade-level principal at Lafayette and three sons, Elliott (8), Leo (7), and Nolan (5), all of whom are future Lancers.
Austin Stofer is a 2017 Lafayette high school graduate where he played football and wrestled. In wrestling, he was a two time state medalist and a state finalist his senior year. He was a 3 year varsity letterman in both sports. He continued his athletic and academic career at Lindenwood University where he majored in accounting and was on the wrestling team. He is entering his first year coaching with the program as the Head Freshman Football coach and Offensive Coordinator.
Michael Johnson played high school football in Texas. He red shirted at Texas Tech, transferred to West Texas A&M University and was a four year starter He played 1 year at cornerback and 3 years at outside linebacker and on special teams MVP his senior year. He graduated with a degree in criminal justice. He and his family moved to St. Louis in 2017. His wife Caroline is a multi time tri-athlete, his daughter Maddie a sophomore at Mizzou, and his son Luke an 8th grader at Rockwood Valley. He is ten years into coaching little league football; this is his first year with the high school.
Mike Shelden was born and raised in the St. Louis area. He graduated from Eureka High School in 2002, where he was a two-year varsity letterman in football and wrestling. He went on to Truman State University, where he was a four-year letterman and three-year starter. He earned honorable mention All-Conference honors in 2004 and 2005, and was named Second Team All-Conference in 2006. Mike received his B.A. in History with a minor in Psychology. This is his second year on the Lancer football staff, and he is excited to work with both the offensive and defensive line. Mike and his wife, Jaime, have been married since 2007. She works as an SLP at LaSalle Springs Middle School. They have a 12-year-old daughter, Ava, who is in 8th grade at Rockwood Valley and a 10-year-old son who is in 4th grade at Babler.
Bill Been played football throughout high school and went on to earn a scholarship to Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he played four years at the collegiate level. He has five years of experience coaching youth football and three years coaching wrestling at the high school level. This season marks his first year coaching high school football, and he’s excited to bring his passion and experience to the Lancer program.
Jesse Zeugin was born and raised in Washington, Missouri. He was a three-sport athlete in football, wrestling, and baseball and graduated from Washington High School in 2000. Jesse went on to wrestle in college at Central Missouri State University and graduated with an education degree in 2005. He has been coaching high school wrestling for 17 years while coaching football off and on. Jesse teaches P.E. and Health at Rockwood Valley Middle School and is in his 16th year of teaching and coaching.
